So I need to give a little bit of information for public safety.
Downtown Train was originally by Tom Waits. It’s an amazing song and there’s no reason in the world why anyone needed to remake it. That being said it’s such a fantastic song that most remakes wind up ranging from okay to pretty good. However if you talk to me about how much better Rod Stewart’s version is, I will punch you in the face. Right square in the face. And don’t even start talking noise about Tom Waits’ voice because that’s just another knuckle sandwhich headed your way. This song is perfect and if you’re pet artist wants to remake an “okay” version of it then knock yourself out but don’t start telling me about how much superior that verion is.
